Aromatherapy + Massage = Awesome! Aromatic Massage Therapy Coming to Pure Silk in Old Town Temecula

One of my recent clients (Chante) is a gifted and caring licensed massage therapist looking to incorporate the health benefits of aromatherapy into her massage practice. She will open her doors to new clients on September first at Pure Silk Spa in Old Town Temecula (41964 Main St. Suite H Temecula, CA 92590)

She specializes in Swedish massage, sport massage, neuromuscular and cupping. She wanted to create a aromatherapy massage oil that enhanced the benefits her therapeutic practice. Chante chose a base carrier oil that felt good to the skin and after considering the benefits of a variety of essential oils in massage chose a combination of 100% pure lavender and juniper berry essential oils to create her signature three ingredient massage oil blend.

Lavender is well known for its skin soothing and relaxing effects. Lavender contains the therapeutic aromatic compounds linalool and linylaic acid. These compounds can have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, antirhematic, and anti-spasmodic effects -- in other words they soothe aches and ease tension. Lavender is incredibly healing to the nervous system and can strengthen and restore vitality. But these effects only come from the true essential oils not a synthetic fragrance oil.

Juniper Berry essential oil is lesser known but also has amazing therapeutic benefits for massage. It's distilled from the berry of Juniperus communis and is rich in a-pinene and b-myrcene. These compounds are excellent for muscle and joint aches. Juniper berry is widely used to reduce lymph congestion and swelling. Additionally Juniper is also analgesic, anti-inflammatory, warming, and anti-spasmodic. On an energetic level is is said to cleanse and protect, drive out negative energy, and reduce worry and promote more positivity. It is an excellent addition to massage.

Sometimes people feel indulgent when getting a massage or think it's a luxury. But in fact it's healthful and beneficial for our bodies. According to the Mayo Clinic (1) massage is believed to help with:

  • Anxiety

  • Digestive disorders

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Headaches

  • Insomnia related to stress

  • Myofascial pain syndrome

  • Soft tissue strains or injuries

  • Sports injuries

  • Temporomandibular joint pain

Beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massage because it often produces feelings of caring, comfort and connection.

Massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and wellbeing. There are various types of massage but it's a general term for pressing, rubbing, or manipulating the skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments for health and wellbeing. It can vary from light touch to deep pressure. Below are explanations of types of massage:

Swedish massage: A gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping to relax and energize.

Deep Tissue Massage: Slower, more forceful strokes target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue commonly used to help with muscle damage.

Sports Massage: Similar to Swedish massage, but geared towards sport activities to treat or help prevent injury.

Trigger Point Massage: Focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers, knots or trigger points that can form in muscles.

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy: The Spine-Health website states "The most effective type of massage therapy for lower back pain is neuromuscular therapy." (2) This type of massage works to alleviate muscle spasm and improve blood flow.

Cupping: According to WebMd "Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage." (3)

And when Chante couples her gift as a MT with aromatherapy your receive the incredible benefits of both. So if you are in need of the healthful benefits of massage and aromatherapy for muscle aches, tension, to support wellness, or simply to relax, do yourself a favor and book an appointment today. Chante can be reached by phone at 951-529-1582 or email at chantegarland@gmail.com

My recommendation is to book early! And of course if you have questions or need aromatherapy services contact me. I'm happy to help.
