A Cheerful Heart Is Good Medicine

I

love the wisdom of the bible. In Proverbs 17:22 it states:

"A cheerful heart is good medicine,

but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

I love when science, biblical wisdom, and the power of positivity intersect

and speak truth. A cheerful heart IS good medicine. Positive thinking, laughter, and a good attitude can help maintain good health and aid in the fight against illness.

Research suggests what many people already know. Optimism helps when facing disease or surgery. A positive outlook has a big impact on health and longevity. (1)

Optimism is linked to better heart health, blood pressure , and overall health. And positive people are just more pleasant to be around.

Looking for essential oils or exercises to help support a more positive mood? Here are a few ideas:

1. Gratitude list: Some days are good and some days stink. Sometimes life is lovely, sometimes we have to deal with tough things. But usually in every day there are things to be grateful for. It could be family and friends. It could be the fact that you have food, a hot shower, and a bed. It could be someone who is there to just listen. Making a mental or written list of 1, 2, 3 or more things we are grateful for can be very powerful.

2. Just Breathe and Be: Life can get very busy. We can lose touch with ourselves. Taking time to breathe and notice our breath, quiet our minds, and just be can be very powerful. To simply feel the air filling our lungs and belly and exhaling can help us to ground and connect with ourselves. To take time to really taste our food instead of gulping it down in a rush, to feel the warmth of the sun on our face or the wind in our hair, to take time to enjoy nature can be extremely therapeutic.

3. Laugh and Let Go: laughter is good for the mind, body, and spirit. Laughter releases endorphins or feel good chemicals int the brain. So watching a funny movie or sitcom, telling jokes, or enjoying humorous family memories can do the mind and body good.

4. Uplifting Essential Oils: Being positive is a choice and can be easy for some and difficult for others. Life brings us many things and when someone says buck up they can have no idea what we have gone thought.

But with each breath and life moment we can choose to appreciate the very fact that we are and very often essential oils can support positive energy.

Often essential oils such as grapefruit, bergamot, or orange can simply be uplifting. Other times it may mean figuring out what essential oils work best for you. Perhaps jasmine or lavender work better. A qualified aromatherapist can assist.

But I encourage you to have a POSITIVE attitude today and throughout your life. Good positive vibes do YOU good and I believe do a multitude of good for your clients and the world. Stay positive!
